Foreign crew members have been working hard for Taiwan's fishing industry for years to supplement the declining fishing industry workforce in Taiwan. To thank the foreign crew members for their contribution to Taiwan's fishing industry, the Fisheries Agency has continuously organized several heartwarming activities in their honor.

On November 25, 2018, the Bureau of Labor Affairs of Kaohsiung City Government cooperated with various units including the Fisheries Agency, National Immigration Agency, Kaohsiung Branch of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, Kaohsiung Massage Labor Union, and LOHAS Spine Hospital to provide health check consultations on blood pressure, dental, bone density, and rehabilitation medicine; in addition, free haircuts and massage services by visually-impaired masseurs were provided, and interpreters were arranged on-site to enable foreign crew members to communicate smoothly with the medical personnel. We hope to maintain the physical and mental health of the foreign crew through these caring activities and to thank them for their long-term contribution to Taiwan's fishery economics.

On November 1st, 2020, a team consisting of the National Defense Medical Center of the Tri-Service General Hospital, National Taiwan University Hospital, and Tzu Chi Hospital arranged for free medical consultations in dental, family, ophthalmology, occupational and Traditional Chinese medicine to over 300 foreign crew members of Nanfang'ao at the Third Fish Auction Market of the Su'ao District Fisherman's Association. During the event, a barbecue party was held to relieve the foreign crew's work pressure and to increase the opportunities for multicultural exchange, and headscarves and soap boxes were given out to thank the foreign crew members for their diligent efforts.

On the same day, the 7th Edition of the Taiwan Literature Award for Migrants was also held. Foreign fishing crew members and VIPs were invited to attend the ceremony for health check-ups and fun, which also brought a strong tincture of artistic literature of books to the fishing port's charity clinic. At the award ceremony, on the Nanfang'ao Bridge, the fishermen were invited to sing the song "Remembering our souls" (Kenanglah Jiwa Kami) in Indonesian, in the hope of caring for the lives and souls of foreign crew members through literature, medical care, and social practice.
